Rafael Nadal

Rafael NadalRafael Nadal was born on June 3, 1986 in Manacor, Mallorca. He is a professional tennis player, situated on the second position of the Top 100 and Roger Federer's NO.1 enemy.

Biography and Career :

Her parents' names are Sebastian and Ana Maria. He was trained by his uncle, Toni Nadal. Besides him, his parents also have one daughter. Even if he plays with his left hand he is not a left-handed. His uncle was the one who taught him to play this way and considered it was for his best. When he was a child, he played football and at 12 years old decided to be a great tennis player. His first victory came in 2002 at Majorca where he defeated Ramon Delgado. Next year he won other two titles and managed to play i nto the third round at Wimbledon.

During the years he broke a lot of records because he was one of the youngest players. His most famous result is at the French Open. He participated there for the first time in 2005 and surprised everyone after winning the Grand Slam title. It was also his first Grand Slam title in his entire career. The next two years he participated again and managed to win the finals so until now he has three consecutive victories at Roland Garros. In 2006 he played the final at Wimbledon against Roger Federer, but unfortunately lost the game. In the same year he participated at US Open and played into the quarter-finals.

In 2007, he played the quarter-finals at the Australian Open, but Fernando Gonzalez was the one who beat him. He is a sensational and talented tennis player. He will break records again and will show the entire world what he is capable of. Let's hope that injuries will stay away from him and he will have a great career.

Biography and Career :

In 1997 he became a professional player and he was soon recognized for his large physical size, athleticism, controversial antics and aggressive "power" style of play. He speaks fluent Russian, Spanish and English.

Between 1999 and 2005 he has won fifteen single titles, among them two Grand Slam titles and one doubles title. The tournaments he has won were at Boston, Barcelona, Majorca, Toronto, Tashkent, Saint Petersburg, Paris, Beijing and Madrid. He had victories over players like Juan Carlos Ferrero, Pete Sampras, Mark Philippoussis, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Lleyton Hewitt, David Nalbandian or Mikhail Youzhny.

The first single Grand Slam title came in 2000 at the US Open. The victory was huge for another reason. He beat Pete Sampras, a legend of the tennis world, in the final with the score 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. The second was conquered in 2005 at the Australian Open, after a match against public's favorite, Lleyton Hewitt. He lost the first set but the match ended with the score 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, and 6-4.

His only doubles title was won in 2001 at the tournament in Gstaad, Switzerland on clay. His partner was Roger Federer. In 2002 and 2004 he played another two finals at Australian Open but didn’t win any of them. He lost the games to Thomas Johansson and Roger Federer.

Besides these two lost finals he lost another nine between 1999 and 2006. He is a great and talented player but also notorious and volcanic and during a match he exteriorizing his emotions and you never know what to expect from him. In 2001 he played the quarter-final at Wimbledon and one year later the semi-final at Roland Garros.

His parents are Jerry and Blanche Roddick and their careers have nothing to do with sport. One is a businessman and the other a schoolteacher. The family has another two sons, Lawrence and John.

Jimmy Connors, a legend of the tennis world, is his coach. They are working well together and have long term collaboration.

* After becoming a professional tennis player at eighteen years old, he started to improve his match and with the talent, work and help from his coach he managed to be World's Number One on November 3, 2003. In 2001 he had participated at the French Open and played the third round, b ut had lost.

* After two years he participated at the Australian Open where he played into the semi-finals and at US Open where he played into the final against Juan Carlos Ferrero. He won that final and got his first Grand Slam title.

* He played another two semi-finals in 2005 and 2007 at the Australian Open.

* At Wimbledon he played in 2004 and 2005 the finals against the same man, Roger Federer, but, unfortunately, he lost them both. In 2006 the US Open offered him the chance to make it up. He played another final against Federer, but again lost.

During his career he won tournaments at Atlanta, Houston, Washington, Memphis, London, Montreal, Cincinnati, Miami, London and many others. He is a great player and will continue to fight for the best matches.
